AUTOMATION ENGINEER, III
Listed in the Inc. 5000 for multiple consecutive years as the fastest growing Talent Management platform
in America, we are expanding our Quality Assurance Team with a mission to lead automation strategy and technical direction at scale. The base compensation for this position is $125k - $135k annualized, depending on experience and qualifications.

As an Automation Engineer at ClearCompany, you will join a talented, collaborative, and inclusive team to
help ensure the products we develop are of the highest quality. You’ll have the opportunity to work with
Software Engineers, QA Engineers, Product Managers and more to help meet our goals.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Test & Framework Design:
- Design automated tests and frameworks with scalability, maintainability, and reuse in mind.
- Build and maintain test architecture that supports multiple products and teams.
- Identify and implement patterns (e.g., page objects, fixtures, data-driven tests) to reduce duplication and ease long-term changes.
Standards & Industry Alignment:
- Define and document automation best practices, coding standards, and quality guidelines.
- Keep practices and standards updated with industry trends, tool changes, and organizational needs.
- Promote adoption of standards through documentation, reviews, and team enablement.
Tooling & Technology:
- Evaluate automation tools, frameworks, and integrations against product and team needs.
- Recommend and introduce new tools or approaches when they improve efficiency, stability, or coverage.
- Partner with engineering and product to align tooling with technical roadmap and quality goals.
Mentorship & Test Strategy:
- Guide junior Automation Engineers through code review, pairing, and structured feedback.
- Lead or facilitate test strategy discussions (scope, coverage, risk, ROI of automation).
- Help teams prioritize what to automate and how to balance speed, coverage, and maintenance.
WHAT WE’D LIKE YOU TO HAVE
- At least 5 years of experience in test automation, including designing or evolving frameworks and test architecture.
- Strong grasp of software testing principles, QA processes, and the software development lifecycle.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or Java).
- Extensive experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, Selenium) and when to use them.
- Solid experience with API, contract, and/or integration testing (e.g., REST APIs, contract tests, service- level tests).
- Solid experience with version control (e.g., Git), branching strategies, and collaborative workflows.
- Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines and with related tooling (e.g., Teamcity, GitHub Actions).
- Curiosity about how systems work and enjoy working with others to tackle complex problems.
- Clear communication and ability to explain technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Success working within high-growth organizations is a plus but certainly not required.
- Transferable skills and experience will be considered.
