DEVOPS ENGINEER II:
Listed in the Inc. 5000 for multiple consecutive years as the fastest growing Talent Management platform in America, we are expanding our Research & Development Team with a mission to scale our platform and roll out exciting new products and features to support our ever-increasing user base.
The base compensation for this position is $85,000 to $95,000 annualized depending on experience and qualifications. This role includes occasional off-hours on-call support, and support of technical changes as required by the business.
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
- You will be joining our DevOps Function, partnering closely with Security and Development to create secure, stable, and scalable solutions for our application platform. With over 1.5 million users a month for which we're storing over 5.5 million files and collecting gigabytes of data per day, working at ClearCompany comes with some unique scaling challenges for you to be a part of.
- You will work in a highly visible and collaborative environment working closely with our most senior DevOps engineers, the VP of Engineering, CTO, Application Security, and Information Security groups to plan and roll out the future of our infrastructure.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- In the first 30 days, you’ll become familiar with our systems and architecture. You’ll work in the AWS environment and concentrate on a review of our environment monitoring & tooling with the goals of learning how the environment functions and finding opportunities for improvement.
- You will have identified opportunities for improvement in your first 30 days that for the next month you will turn into projects and implement, as well as projects on the current roadmap. You will continue to learn the environment and assist in the day-to-day management and support requests.
- In 90 days you’ll be comfortable operating all the technologies in the environment. You will have the opportunity to identify areas you would like to deep dive into, and work with the team to determine areas you will take ownership of. You will be in the on-call support rotation.
- You will build, support and maintain ClearCompany’s AWS infrastructure. We have Linux and Windows environments running our application code as well as middleware products such as Redis, RabbitMQ and ElasticSearch.
- You will create tickets, project plans, and documentation in our Atlassian Suite and lead their implementation into the environment; coordinating with the Security, Product Management, and Development Teams as appropriate.
- Design and create monitoring solutions for application and environment functions with our dev team, DataDog and our 3rd Party Operations partner.
WHAT WE’D LIKE YOU TO HAVE
- 1+ yrs experience working in an application hosting technical environment. You should understand how an application functions with a front end, code, backend and the concepts of managing the same. Specific technologies not required, familiarity with a version of web server (IIS/Apache/Nginx), running application code, and a database backend (MySQL/Postgres/DynamoDB).. AWS experience required.
- Either Windows or Linux operating system experience and basic familiarity with an associated scripting language (Bash/Powershell, etc), Linux preferred.
- Ability to document solutions. process and work in an audit compliant style, and a rigorous attention to doing the same.
- Comfortable with monitoring and the concepts involved, what should be monitored, how should we alert, and best practices. Familiarity with a monitoring software, New Relic, DataDog, Tivoli, home grown etc
- A passion for learning and problem-solving mentality. Technology is always changing and the solutions are not always known and the ability to take on new challenges and distill them to their basic components and develop solutions is critical.
