CORPORATE CONTROLLER

Listed in the Inc. 5000 for multiple consecutive years as the fastest-growing Talent Management platform in America, we are seeking to hire an enthusiastic, detail-oriented team player to join the Finance Team as a Corporate Controller. The Corporate Controller will report to the Chief Financial Officer and the position will be responsible for all accounting, revenue and reporting functions at ClearCompany. This position supervises the company-wide month end accounting close, consolidation and Board and internal financial reporting processes, revenue accounting, debt compliance, and the treasury function. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in analyzing, developing and delivering on policy and process improvements and efficiencies. This position is also responsible for assisting the Chief Financial Officer with any ad-hoc requests and inquiries, including mergers and acquisitions.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

This position requires in-depth technical accounting knowledge to assist in all aspects of accounting. This role will interact with all internal departments, external auditors, and consultants to maintain the accounting and revenue records for the company, so strong communication and collaboration skills are important. This position requires strong leadership skills and will help develop, manage and drive the identification and implementation of initiatives necessary to enhance control and efficiency of the accounting and revenue function, including timely and accurate reporting. Lastly, this position requires strong accounting software knowledge and experience.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Supervise the day-to-day accounting function, intercompany accounting and consolidation, revenue recognition, treasury, and financial reporting systems.
  • Supervise the month-end accounting close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness as well as compliance with U.S. GAAP. Experience with shortening the month-end accounting close process is a must.
  • Research and manage technical accounting issues and implement new accounting rules and regulations in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations and other reports where necessary.
  • Review and perform analysis of consolidated financial statements and manage the preparation and distribution of the monthly Board and internal management reports, schedules and presentations, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Manage debt compliance reporting requirements
  • Work with Sales to ensure customer contract language aligns with revenue recognition expectations
  • Manage the Corporate Accounting budget and investigate budget-to-actual differences.
  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Responsible for mergers and acquisitions due diligence and integration plans.
  • Oversee external auditor relationship, assisting with the coordination of the annual audit process.
  • Overseeing all financial systems as they affect the accounting function (i.e. Sage Intacct, Maxio, Expensify, etc).
  • Responsible for administering the annual D&O, Cyber/E&O and General Liability insurance renewals.
  • Various ad hoc requests as they arise.

WHAT WE’D LIKE YOU TO HAVE

  • BS or advanced degree in Accounting or Finance;
  • Certified Public Accountant;
  • Minimum of 12 years experience in Accounting and Finance roles;
  • Minimum of 7 years experience supervising Accounting and Finance professionals;
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
  • Extensive knowledge of revenue recognition (ASC 606) and understanding importance and application within customer contracts
  • Strong experience in establishing / re-engineering / transforming accounting processes and controls, and ERP applications (potential ERP changeover/implementation);
  • Proven competencies in the area of leadership, communications, strategic thinking, problem solving and decision making;
  • Experience in managing cross functional teams;
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills;
  • Proven capabilities in building and retaining engaged, high-performing teams;
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment;
  • Must embody and promote a culture of persistence, curiosity, innovation, accountability and collaboration within and around the accounting organization;
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills;
  • Big 4 accounting experience a plus;
  • Sage Intacct general ledger a plus;
  • Payroll understanding a plus;
  • Experience in organizations in the midst of significant growth
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity

The base compensation for this position is between $175,000 and $200,000 annualized depending on experience and qualifications. This role is eligible for an additional compensation incentive in the form of an annual performance-based bonus, representing 20% of base compensation. A detailed bonus plan will be provided in writing at the time of offer.
